Hypnotherapy can be very effective with children. Hypnosis can be used to help children deal with a range of issues, including fears and phobias, unhelpful habits (ie thumb sucking, nail biting), anxieties and bullying.
For younger children, up to the age of 10, I keep sessions shorter, 45-50 minutes only. I like to work with a supporting adult present, usually one of the parents. Hypnosis and EFT are two of methods I use to help children deal with problems that can be holding them back or making their lives miserable. The hypnotic part of sessions can be recorded to reinforce work done during the appointment. As with any new learning, repetition can be helpful to help clients take the new learning on board to a deeper and instinctive level, so that change can be achieved naturally and easily.
EFT, Emotional freedom technique, commonly known as tapping, can work with children. I often like to use it together with NLP, Neuro linguistic programming. Helping children to work towards how they want to feel, replacing old negative reactions with new positive reactions. This can be very helpful for example in a bullying situation, giving the child tools to deal with the bully and helping them to break the cycle. Raising their self-esteem and confidence, and the realisation that all of us can choose our reactions to any event, a very empowering lesson.
Teenagers can also be a very vulnerable group. Sometimes struggling with exam pressure, peer pressure and so on. Teenagers can benefit from hypnotherapy sessions to deal with a range of issues. Learning to cope with occasional failures, help them to become more resilient. Learning to accept that “there is no failure only feedback”, helps young people accept that set backs are all part of life’s ups and downs.
If you feel that any of these issues are affecting your children, you can call me for an initial consultation on 07786 347575. The initial consultation is up to 30 minutes and is free and without obligation. It can also be by Zoom or in person. It gives you an opportunity to ask any questions you might have about how hypnotherapy could work for your child.
